Galena

Once a year my husband and I take a day trip to Galena Illinois http://www.cityofgalena.org/history.cfm. It is a very old, historic town, best known for having President Grant as one of it's residents and really neat boutiques. I always hit Galena beads http://www.galenabeads.com/. They sell a line of vintage findings from Vintaj Natural Brass Co. http://www.vintaj.com/ which is also located in Galena. The other store which I really like is Ink and Stamp with Sue http://www.inkandstamp.com/. Her store sells really cool collage and scrapbook supplies.

Sew Somerset!

I am really thrilled to pieces that my little girl quilt made the cover of the first issue of Sew Somerset! It is a mixed media quilt incorporating both fabrics and paper with some paint, inks, and hot stamping thrown in. It hits the new stands October 1st!

Christmas in September

Yesterday, I went to our local farmer's market where they sell antiques and all kinds of stuff besides produce. I found these really cool Christmas pins. The vendor said she bought them from an estate of a woman that collected them all her life. It was so hard picking which ones to buy. There were so many. I just love them! Not sure what I will do with them. That is usually how it works out. I buy things that I am drawn to and then they end up in some project along the way. I also found some really pretty bark cloth, fish earrings, and an old minnow bucket. I will keep you posted on those finds.

First Post!

Welcome to my new blog! It was my goal from at the beginning of the year to create both a website and blog. The website came together rather quickly. That was easy. Just post what I do, have done, and would like to do. The blog however, I have put off until now. Deciding if I should really take the plunge into the world of blogging. I read other people's blogs daily. I love reading what they are up to. SO, hopefully, you will enjoy reading what I have to share with you!
